Moments Already Passed

(8.16) Thinking is the great business of life.

(8.17) Thought is spiritual and therefore, creative. To consciously control thought is to control circumstances, conditions, environment and destiny.

The greatest reason we are not in control of our thoughts and, thus, our lives, is because mind is ruminating on the past or the future.

The present moment is exactly that, a “present;” a gift. If we direct our thoughts to the gift of this moment, we have nothing to complain about because in this moment, we have the choice to respond to conditions rather than react to what we did in the past or may do in the future.

The easiest way to be in the moment is to consistently ask yourself, “what am I doing right now?”

What we are “doing” is often very different from what we are thinking, so by asking this question consistently, we are directing our attention back to the gift that is being present.
