How we direct our attention is constantly influencing who we believe we are. Thus, if our mind is constantly bouncing from extremes, this explains our fluctuating moods and lack of secure identity. This knowledge allows us to direct our attention in a consistent manner to produce the results we desire.
(5.26) We may eliminate imperfect conditions by becoming conscious of our unity with the source of all power.
(5.16) These laws have been discovered by a generalization of facts that are unusual, rare, strange, and form the exception.

Thought allows secure desired conditions. This is a fact because it is consistently observable. Who we believe we are in a result of our predominant mental attitude.
