(8.20) Constructive thinking depends upon a recognition of the creative nature of spiritual energy and our ability to direct it.
Interaction between the individual and creative potential is spirit. Spiritual energy is thought (4.1), because thought is the method by which this interaction takes place.
All of nature is a physical expression of creative potential manifesting in form. Consciousness is a result of nature becoming aware of itself. What makes humans unique, is that self awareness has emerged as a result of our ability to think and continues to emerge in those individuals who take the initiative to direct their attention; who engage in constructive thinking.
The “next step” in the evolution of our species will be a mental one.
